  Ready to go

A popular tourist destination such as Bali, Indonesia, which is rich in travel information, can easily make people fall into various booking websites and complicated strategies before departure, and even make an expectation completely crazy.

But what if you change your mind? Since it is such a mature tourist destination, I’m afraid there is no need to worry about food and shelter at all, so just go into battle lightly! Before backpacking to Bali, I basically only used two useful booking websites.

In terms of accommodation, I prepared a hotel for the night when I arrived in Bali (the flight arrived at midnight local time) (I planned to let it go), and I used the hotel reservation website www.asiarooms.com. Judging from the amount of information on the website, every hotel in it has a location map, pictures of the appearance and rooms, facilities introduction, tourists’ comments, and even a price directly converted into RMB, which is very convenient and practical. And according to my later observation, the price of this website is really good, which is generally 20%~30% cheaper than the price found at the front desk of the hotel.

In terms of air tickets, it is naturally AirAsia (www.airasia.com), a low-cost airline that has become more and more famous recently. This airline is really not suitable for those picky passengers, such as checked baggage and on-board catering, which need to be paid separately; For example, the air conditioner on the plane is visibly cold and smoky, just like the cold room of a refrigerator; Of course, if you don’t wear enough clothes, you can also get a carpet on the plane, but you have to pay for it? ? However, all these disappointments are rewarded with absolutely cheap air tickets, which is absolutely cost-effective for backpackers. If you book half a year or earlier in advance, you may even get a free ticket!

Finally, I want to talk about visas. China tourists can get landing visa in Bali. If they have a confirmed round-trip ticket, they don’t need to apply for a visa in advance. AirAsia’s flight from China to Bali will stop in Kuala Lumpur, and it is ok if you want to stop in Malaysia, because Malaysia’s entry requirement is that those who stay in China for less than 5 days do not need to apply for a visa in advance, and they can go through the border immigration formalities directly.

  Arrive in Bali

The only airport in Bali is called Ngurah Rai, which can be called Denpasar Airport in many cases. In fact, the airport is still some distance from Denpasar, the capital of Bali Province, but it is very close to Kuta, the most popular holiday beach in the area, only a few kilometers away. Visitors who arrive by plane will have a feeling of landing at sea, because the airport is by the sea. After about 9 hours of flight, coming out of the cabin, the tropical smell really made me alive like a fish caught in an advertisement for Siemens refrigerator.

There are two things to do when entering the customs in Bali: first, go to the bank counter to exchange the Indonesian Rupiah (often abbreviated as "Rp", the official name is "Indonesian rupiah"); Then go to the counter in landing visa and wait in a long queue. The long wait made me feel sleepy gradually, until after I went through the customs, I waited for my taxi at the taxi prepaid office at the airport and reported my hotel to the driver, and then I gradually came to my senses.

The beaches in Bali attract tourists with different tastes because of their different styles. So many tourists came out of a busy and tired airport and rushed to their desired beaches in the night. I also arrived at my destination, which is the only hotel I booked in advance during this trip. In the eyes of a person who prefers backpacking, booking all the hotels in advance is putting a stake in his itinerary, which is really not desirable. Moreover, the facts also verified my judgment on Bali before I left: there is really no need to worry about living here, because there are many hotels and hotels, and they are rich and frugal.

After a full night’s sleep, I left the reserved hotel and soon found a quiet, clean and elegant courtyard hotel, which satisfied me both in price and environment. The hotel is very clean (in fact, I have never met an unclean hotel in Bali), which may be related to the Hindu tradition that waiters go in and out of the room barefoot. What’s more, as soon as you leave the hotel gate, you can always see many brightly-dressed Balinese women. They hold plates full of flowers and fruits, which are enshrined in shrines or in the middle of intersections. When they arrive, they will gracefully sprinkle their hands with clean water three times. There are also a large number of backpacking hotels hidden in Bali, most of which can’t be found or booked online, but they are all very charming.
