In the first two weeks of July, the average wholesale price of six kinds of fruits monitored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs was 8.26 yuan per kilogram. Among them, watermelon, Kyoho grape and banana decreased by 19.8%, 16.1% and 3.2% respectively compared with the average price in June.

However, the price of watermelons still rose by 14.3% compared with the previous year, which was mainly due to the high temperature and drought in the north, serious sunburn of watermelons, more rainfall in the south and more cracking of watermelons, resulting in a year-on-year decline in the overall commodity rate of watermelons.

This is because as the temperature in the producing area continues to rise, the ripening speed is accelerated, and there is a large backlog of fresh bananas, which leads to a decline in prices. According to the statistics provided by the Statistics Department of Beijing Xinfadi Agricultural Products Wholesale Market, on July 5th, the wholesale price of watermelon per kilogram in Xinfadi Xin Jing was between 1.4 yuan and 2.4 yuan, up 11.76% from the previous month.
