　　Nanning Customs Anti-smuggling Bureau reported on the 24th that Qinzhou Intermediate People’s Court recently made a first-instance judgment on the "July 9, 2020" cigarette smuggling case of Dong Moumou and others, which was investigated by Qinzhou Branch of the Bureau, and sentenced the principal offenders Dong Moumou and Chen Moumou to 10 years’ imprisonment, fined 7.1 million yuan and 4.4 million yuan respectively, and sentenced other major members of the gang to fixed-term imprisonment ranging from 1 year to 5 years and 6 months.

　　According to the police, on July 9, 2020, Nanning Customs Anti-smuggling Bureau and Guangxi Tobacco Monopoly Bureau jointly launched the "Border Sea 2020-1" special campaign to crack down on cigarette smuggling. A total of 47 police officers were dispatched and divided into seven action groups to carry out unified net collection operations in Qinzhou, Beihai, Fangcheng, Dongxing and Yunxiao, Fujian, respectively. Two cigarette smuggling gangs were destroyed in one fell swoop, five suspects were arrested and one smuggling den was removed.

　　It was verified that criminal gangs headed by Dong Moumou and Chen Moumou ordered counterfeit cigarettes of some well-known domestic brands in Cambodia, Laos and other countries, transported them to Vietnam for hoarding, and then smuggled them into the country through coastal areas such as Qinzhou, Fangcheng and Jingxi in Guangxi, and then transported them to Guangdong and other places for sale. After digging deep and expanding the line, the case finally verified 3190 pieces of cigarettes smuggled by the gangs involved, with a case value of 20.01 million yuan, which was listed as a second-level listed supervision case by the Anti-smuggling Bureau of the General Administration of Customs.
