When online shopping has gradually become a lifestyle of modern people, a new public welfare model of "consumption poverty alleviation" that everyone can participate in has also emerged — — The National Red Cross System Crowdfunding Poverty Alleviation Competition sponsored by the Red Cross Society of China (hereinafter referred to as the Crowdfunding Poverty Alleviation Competition) advocates the concept of "consumption is charity and purchase is public welfare", adopts the product crowdfunding model, sells characteristic agricultural products through e-commerce platforms, and stimulates the "hematopoietic" mechanism of farmers in poor and vulnerable areas, so that they can get rid of poverty with dignity and become rich through hard work.

On the occasion of the second crowdfunding poverty alleviation competition, the reporter from Zhongxin. com went to Tongwei County, Gansu Province with the China Red Cross Foundation, and visited the benefits brought by this new model of "consumption poverty alleviation" to local poor households.

Unwilling to be poor, "post-90 s" college students return home to start businesses

Longzhong is known as "bitter and barren is the best in the world". Today, Dingxi City in Longzhong still fails to take off the label of "poverty". One district and six counties under its jurisdiction are contiguous national poverty-stricken areas, and Tongwei County is one of them.

Tongwei County, located in the hilly and gully region of the Loess Plateau, has an annual precipitation of 350mm and an annual evaporation of more than 1,500 mm.. Barren land, arid climate and once blocked traffic have hindered the pace of getting rid of poverty and becoming rich in this "hometown of calligraphy and painting" with a history of more than 2,100 years. However, this place, which was defined as "unfit for human habitation" by the World Food and Agriculture Organization in the 1990s, gave birth to the "King of Grains" Black Buckwheat, and "Tongwei Black Buckwheat Tea" was the entry of the second crowdfunding poverty alleviation competition.

The sponsor of the project is Li Guoliang, the head of Liangxing Agricultural and Sideline Products Farmers’ Professional Cooperative in Tongwei County and the operation director of Tongwei Renjia E-commerce Co., Ltd. Born and raised in a small mountain village in Tongwei, this post-90s generation went to Shandong to study in order to get rid of poverty seven years ago. Now, it is the "bitterness" in his hometown that attracts him to return home to start a business.

"When I was a child, I always liked to look at the distant hills and imagine what the outside world would be like. But once out of the mountains, I can never forget the picture of my parents facing the loess and the taste of bitter buckwheat tea in my hometown. " Li Guoliang said.

In 2015, after graduating from college, he worked in Lanzhou for one year. Regardless of his family’s opposition, he returned to Tongyu, where "food is scarce like oil, and three meals are difficult to take care of people’s outflow", and he met Chen Qijun, a peer who is also an e-commerce.

Two returning college students with the same feelings and ideals hit it off, and joined hands to build the farmers’ professional cooperative of Liangxing agricultural and sideline products in Tongwei County and Tongwei Renjia E-commerce Co., Ltd., and devoted themselves to opening up the market for high-quality black bitter buckwheat, pushing the agricultural and sideline products in their hometown to the whole country, and changing the deep-rooted poverty image left by the "bitter land is the best in the world".

As rural children, they know more about the hardships of the villagers. In order to increase the income of poor farmers, they bought tartary buckwheat at a price 30% higher than the market price; In order to help the poor more accurately, and at the same time solve the problems of inconvenient transportation and insufficient manpower of the villagers, they went from village to village for home visits and made home purchases. As long as it is a product that farmers are willing to sell, they will come to the net. "Up to now, there is still a backlog of garlic and other substances in the warehouse." Chen Qijun said with a smile.

Today, they have signed contracts with more than 200 households in 8 poverty-stricken villages in 3 townships, and have earned more than one million yuan for local poor households in recent years.

Take pains to brew a happy taste with bitter buckwheat.

For 32-year-old Chen Manqiang, black bitter buckwheat bears his hope for his son.

Chen Manqiang has two children, and his wife is deaf and mentally ill. Two years ago, my two-month-old son was diagnosed with a rare disease, phenylketonuria, and he could no longer go out to work. The expenses of his family were immediately stretched, especially the high cost of his son’s treatment and special diet often made him sleepless.

At this time, selling black bitter buckwheat became the main source of income for Chen Manqiang’s family. Chen Manqiang said that before, I didn’t know which crops were easy to sell and could make money. I planted a little bit of everything in the field. The yield of black tartary buckwheat is low and the price can’t go up, so it is rarely planted, and it is basically for personal use or to send some to relatives and friends. "Since the cooperation with Guoliang, the black bitter buckwheat is not worried about the market, and the price is high. The land at home has been planted. This year, 10 acres have been planted, and there are tens of thousands of incomes a year. The special diet of the baby is basically guaranteed."

After understanding the special situation of his family, Li Guoliang and Chen Qijun also arranged for him to work in the company, and his time was free, so that he could take care of his family and get paid by piece, which greatly eased his pressure.

Sitting in the small courtyard in front of the door, Chen Manqiang looked at Li Guoliang and Chen Qijun with gratitude and said, "I hope their company will get better and better, and I can develop with them and bring my son up smoothly."

On the roadside leading to Shigou Village, Longshan Town, there is a rather "magnificent" bungalow, which was just completed by Nanhongbin, a villager from Shigou, last year.

Sitting in the spacious and bright living room, 45-year-old Nan Hongbin’s face lit up. He said that since 2016, the cooperative has signed a contract with him, which not only provides high-quality seeds, explains relevant breeding knowledge, but also acquires at a high price. In recent years, the planting scale of tartary buckwheat in his family has been expanding, and the economic conditions of his family have also improved obviously. At the end of 2017, he built a new house near the road, and the family finally moved out of the ravine.

Speaking of today’s life, his face is full of heartfelt joy: "Now we just plant and don’t worry about sales." As long as people are diligent, life is getting better and better. "

What is even more touching and gratifying is that the northwest man who just got rid of poverty took over the baton of helping the poor. "I am thinking about how to help other people in need."

The gratitude and gratitude of the villagers also added motivation to Li Guoliang and Chen Qijun. However, Li Guoliang said that he and the villagers should be more grateful for the crowdfunding platform provided by the Chinese Red Cross and the love and dedication of countless netizens.

Li Guoliang told reporters that although Tongwei Black Buckwheat has the high nutrition, pollution-free and additive-free quality of "king of five grains", because Tongwei is remote, the villagers’ concepts are relatively backward and lack of effective marketing methods, which leads to the previous black Buckwheat being unsalable or sold at a very low price. The crowdfunding poverty alleviation competition can be said to have inserted a pair of wings for agricultural products in poor areas to fly freely. As soon as "Tongwei Black Buckwheat Tea" was launched, it attracted the attention of netizens. In less than a week, it successfully reached the goal of crowdfunding in the primary election and became the only buckwheat product selected for the contest in Tongwei.

But for Li Guoliang and Chen Qijun, their "feelings" are obviously not just infatuated with their hometown elders and landscapes. Li Guoliang, who studied civil engineering at university, has laid the foundation stone for their ideal in his heart — — Taking the crowdfunding poverty alleviation competition as an opportunity, the brand Tongwei Black Buckwheat Tea was established, and its own factory was opened to expand the production and sales scale of agricultural products, forming an "industrial empire" of Tongwei agricultural products, attracting more outflow talents to return home, and brewing a happy day for the folks with black buckwheat.

Crowdfunding for poverty alleviation Every consumer is a public welfare practitioner.

Authoritative data show that by the end of 2018, there were still 16.6 million rural poor people in the country; As of the first half of this year, there were 334 deep poverty-stricken counties in China, and these poor people and regions became the key and difficult points in tackling poverty.

Liao Ling, Deputy Director of Disaster Relief and Development Department of China Red Cross Foundation, said that the core of poverty alleviation for poor rural households is to increase income, and the key to increase income is sales. The purpose of the crowdfunding poverty alleviation competition sponsored by the Red Cross Society of China is to change "blood transfusion" into "hematopoiesis", encourage farmers in poor and vulnerable areas to fully explore local characteristics, promote agriculture through industry, and train a group of rural poverty alleviation leaders. The Red Cross Society of China, on the other hand, made use of its resource advantages to build a platform for them to export their products and help launch a number of special agricultural products brands.

The reporter learned that the first crowdfunding poverty alleviation competition was launched on July 5, 2017. A total of 228 projects from 22 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions signed up for the competition, and 137 projects entered the preliminary online fundraising. Among them, 50 semi-final projects raised a total of 2.77 million yuan in two weeks. After online voting, 30 events from 14 provinces entered the finals. The contest finally decided on 20 red goods projects, and each project was supported by 100,000 yuan of Bo ‘ai Home Livelihood Fund, and 20 outstanding poverty alleviation leaders were commended.

The second crowdfunding poverty alleviation competition was launched on March 20th this year, and 797 projects from 28 provinces and municipalities signed up for the competition. As of 0: 00 on August 13th, more than 400 projects after the primary election have raised 7.64 million yuan, and the last projects in the Western Division are still increasing. At present, the number of participants is nearly 1.33 million.

The relevant person in charge of the China Red Cross Society said that the National Red Cross System Crowdfunding Poverty Alleviation Competition gathered the humanitarian forces of the National Red Cross, radiated all kinds of poverty alleviation work sites and Pok Oi Home project sites, and focused on improving the livelihood of the poorest and most vulnerable people, forming a new poverty alleviation model of "Red Cross+poverty alleviation sites+farmers+agricultural products+poverty alleviation leaders+Internet public". This incubation, development and platform-based poverty alleviation model has many added values, such as the spread of agricultural products brands, the cultivation of consumer communities and the development of rural economic cooperative organizations, which embodies the innovation and creativity of the Red Cross in tackling poverty.

The Second Crowdfunding Poverty Alleviation Competition was hosted by China Red Cross Society, and undertaken by China Red Cross Foundation and JD.COM Digital Technology. At present, the competition is still in full swing, and a steady stream of orders are also reaching poor villages all over the country through e-commerce platforms.

Before leaving Tongwei, the reporter visited Tongwei Renjia E-commerce Co., Ltd. In a small office, several young people are busy in front of the computer, and the open page is the order information constantly updated by the online shopping platform — — Tongwei tartary buckwheat products, which were previously "raised" in the plateau, finally got out of the "boudoir" through the e-commerce platform.

Strangers who are across the Qian Shan may not know what kind of stories are hidden in the black bitter buckwheat tea they bought online, but their every order and every penny will be written into a new story of helping the poor. (End)
