Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs: There is no need to "talk about bird color change" because of the low incidence of avian influenza in China

CCTV News:The State Council Joint Defense and Control Mechanism held a press conference this afternoon (February 18th). At the press conference, regarding the recent bird flu epidemic, Yang Zhenhai, director of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said that at present, the incidence of bird flu in China is very low, and there is no need to "talk about the color change of birds", so you can safely eat poultry products that have passed the quarantine and legally listed.

Yang Zhenhai, Director of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs:In February, a highly pathogenic avian influenza epidemic occurred in Shaoyang, Hunan Province and Nanchong, Sichuan Province, respectively. Both farms were small and medium-sized farms, with 10,347 poultry in stock and 6,340 dead. At present, the disposal of the epidemic situation has been completed, and 28,214 poultry in the epidemic area have been culled. After investigation by the local animal husbandry and veterinary department, there was no abnormal situation in the surrounding poultry farms. After monitoring by the local health department, the close contact personnel are all healthy in clinic at present, and the sampling monitoring is negative. According to experts’ analysis, it is more likely that these two epidemics are caused by the spread of wild birds. Our country is a big producer of poultry meat and eggs, with a large amount of feeding. The per capita possession of poultry eggs has exceeded the level of developed countries, and our total amount is guaranteed. Now with the easing of transportation links, these problems should be unlikely to become big problems.
