China’s heavy-haul railway technology has made a major breakthrough, and the heavy-haul moving block system of Shuohuang Railway has successfully started running.

CCTV News:Yesterday (June 19th), the heavy-haul train with mobile block technology system in China successfully started running, which indicated that Shuohuang Railway became the first heavy-haul railway with mobile block system in China, and the heavy-haul railway technology in China achieved a major breakthrough.

Moving block is recognized by international railways as the best control system to improve safety index and transportation efficiency. By controlling the safety interval of multiple trains on the same railway, the rear-end collision accident can be prevented.

Meng Xianhong, Manager of Science and Technology Information Department of Shuohuang Railway Company:The 10,000-ton departure efficiency of Shenchi South Station is about 11 minutes, which can be improved to 7.3 minutes if the mobile block technology is applied, and the transportation capacity of the whole line can be improved by about 40 million tons if the mobile block transformation is completed.

After eight years of key technical research, core equipment development and equipment research, and expanded test and engineering application research, the heavy-haul mobile block system of Shuohuang Railway has achieved "four innovations" in line with China’s actual operation needs, the mobile block safety protection technology for complex scenes of heavy-haul railways, the relocation technology of heavy-haul trains based on wireless communication and Beidou satellite, and the comprehensive safety guarantee technology for heavy-haul mobile blocks, providing a complete set of solutions for the transportation capacity and efficiency improvement of heavy-haul railways.
